Yoga for Athletes offers specific Yoga-based coaching to professional athletes mainly in the English Premier League, the Women’s Super League and the English Football League.

Clients past and present include Manchester United FC, Everton FC, Newcastle United FC, Salford City FC, Blackburn Rovers FC, Bury FC, Wigan Athletic FC. We have helped 100s of athletes become more flexible, more focused and relaxed, and better equipped to move freely and keep doing what they love.

Our Philosophy

While our approach is based on the time-honoured practice of Yoga and involves disciplined work towards achieving balance in the mind and body, we also draw from modern-day science, to ensure we offer the best possible service to the people we teach. We work alongside coaches, sports scientists and medical staff to bring out the best in every individual we work with.

Body

A regular Yoga practice will help you become stronger and more flexible. Our bespoke mobility programmes take athletes through multiple movement planes. We teach functional diaphragmatic breathing to assist athletes with gym work and build strong pelvic stability. Yoga is also helpful in relieving lower back pain and is now recommended as a first-line treatment by The American College of Physicians.

Mind

High Performance individuals perform better when they are relaxed and focused.

This is why we use Yoga-based mindfulness, relaxation and breathing techniques to help athletes remain calm, centred and focused on their goals.

Although positive psychology is a relatively new science, it is a key element of Yoga philosophy. Practising gratitude and focusing on our strengths can have powerful mental health benefits.
